Steps is a voluntary, non-profit home for abandoned baby girls. STEPS was founded by Tara Manogarom and was was born out of a vision to start a ‘Home’ for abandoned girl children and to make this “Home” a “Home with a Difference” that was centered on love and care. At STEPS, we take in baby girls from age five who would otherwise have been abandoned or given away, and provide them a safe and loving environment to grow up in.

We are Government certified

There is a big difference between wanting to create a nurturing environment and actually creating one. So in fulfilling Government criteria for childcare, we have an unbiased, third-party recognition of our standards. This goes a long way in validating our efforts to turn good intentions into action!  We provide all-round care, for life
There is no limit to how much or for how long we will help our girls. This includes providing emotional support, keeping them safe and protected, giving them nutritious food, guaranteeing them a sound education, getting them quality medical care, and handling the many unforeseen needs that will certainly arise as they grow up.

We are a ‘home’ in the truest sense

Our girls are not like our children; they are our children. We’re more than just caretakers to them: Isaac and Tara Manogarom are their parents; they are treated as part of the family. Most of our girls come from troubled backgrounds: some have even narrowly escaped death; so it’s crucial that we nurture a sense of self-worth. We do this by giving them the attention they need. This means birthday parties, toys, games, outings, listening to them when they feel like talking, fussing over them when they’re sad, and all the other small but essential elements of a ‘normal’ childhood.

We dream of a world that sees the immense worth of the girl child

The plight of little girls from underprivileged in India is heartbreaking: female infanticide, child trafficking, and child abuse is just too commonplace. Spreading awareness is the first step to righting things, and is something that’s close to our heart. To find out more, please contact us!
