Advanced Coaching Programs

Homework Journals: Students keep a homework journal in which they paraphrase what they were taught during that day at school.
Weekly Tests: Based on the Homework Journal, simple review tests are given during the week to cover the last three weeks of Journal content.
It is the Homework Journal and/or the Weekly Tests which get sent to the Remote Volunteers for coaching.
Tuition Teachers: If Tuition Teachers are available, Hope Torch will train the tuition teachers in proper classroom and small group management, differentiation techniques, varying learning methods, and other teaching skills to help support the children.
Lowest 5: Hope Torch staff evaluate the child’s marks and determine the Lowest 5 students for that 4 week period. These are the children who are struggling most during that period. If Tuition Teachers are availalbe, the teachers are given a daily 30 min block to conduct strict tests and review cycles with these lowest 5 alone. In this way, the Lowest 5 get special individual attention. This is done for both Science and Math students.
This program runs throughout the academic year.
Act as a tutor for a child in our programs.
- We assign 1-2 children in a home as a tutor for a specific program.
- Once in 2 weeks, we send you their work for that program.
- You review, give feedback, ask questions, etc...
- The child replies (we are moderators)
- Continue this for the duration of the program.
